Kami Kinard
Writings

My work has been published in various magazines, literary journals, and anthologies.  Last year I was one of the editors of The Petigru Review.  I sold my first two books to Putnam in 2007.

Magazines

I've had poetry, stories, and articles published in some of the best children's periodicals.  To me, the biggest thrill of selling to magazines is seeing how illustrators depict my words!  I stopped submitting to magazine a few years ago in order to focus on finishing longer projects.

What I’m working on:

I always keep several projects going at the same time.  That way my brain doesn't get too saturated with one story.  Right now, I’m

working on a literary middle grade fantasy novel.  The language in this novel is lyrical, and it is labor intensive to write.

I'm also tweaking a chapter book series about dinosaurs and trying to finish an early middle grade novel about a boy who loves marbles.

I have other projects that I am working on, but these are the ones I hope to complete soon!!!  (By soon I mean "in the next few months."  Yes, that's soon for a writer!)
